Base Production Limited was established in 2002 by Andrew Lau and a group of experienced film production specialists. The first project from Base Production – "Infernal Affairs" had brought them several Hong Kong and international film awards. Moreover, the movie had also broken the record by accumulating up to 54M box office record.
In 2003, Andrew had completed the series of "Infernal Affairs II" and "Infernal Affairs III". The whole series of the Infernal Affairs had became a classic in the local movie history and influenced the Hong Kong movie trend. In the same year, they had made a breakthrough in the movie "The Park" by using the 3D effects to project the horror scenes.
"Initial D" is released under expectations. The story of this movie based on a well-known Japanese comic with the same name, starring by Taiwanese pop star - Jay Chou and Hong Kong actors - Edison Chen and Shawn Yue, etc.
On the other hand, 2 movies are filmed at the same time: a Korean invested movie – "Daisy" and a local movie – "Moonlight in Tokyo". "Daisy" is directed by Andrew Lau and lead starred by Korean pop star Jeon Ji Hyun, The production team had filmed the movie in Netherland and the story is about the love triangle between 2 men and a woman. "Moonlight in Tokyo" is directed by Alan Mak and starred by multi-talented pop star Leon Lai, which is filmed in Tokyo. It is going to be another big hit of the year after "Initial D".
In 2006, director Andrew Lau prepares to step into Hollywood with his first directed Hollywood movie co-starred by the Golden Award Best Actor Richard Gere. It will be another highlight of Base Production Limited.
