Biography |

Christopher Lee is one of fantasy/horror genre’s greatest figure who put his mark with such roles as the Frankenstein’s Monster, the Mummy, Lord of the Ring’s Saroumane, Star Wars’s Count Durku and of course his iconic Dracula. He has no direct link whatsoever with Asian cinema other than having played a handful of devious yellow face villains most notably the oriental arch fiend himself Doctor Fu Manchu. He was also the lead baddie in the 1974 James Bond outing’s Man With The Golden Gun a movie that was set partially in Hong-Kong and made couple of tongue in cheek references to kung-fu movies.
Interesting trivia: Christopher Lee is actually a distant cousin to James Bond creator Ian Fleming and when his novel Doctor No was being adapted to the screen he actually envisioned his relative to played the titular character a part however that went to Canadian born actor Frederick Wiseman. Christopher Lee had to wait a couple years to become a yellow face villain and a full decade to make his way as a James Bond baddie
