Biography |

Alfred Cheung Kin-ting was born in Guangzhou in 1955. When he was three, he moved with his family to Hong Kong.
Cheung started his career as a researcher in TVB in 1974. Later, he joined the television drama department of RTHK as a scriptwriter.
In 1980, Cheung scripted his first movie, The Saviour directed by Ronny Yu. In 1981, he won his first Hong Kong Film Award for the best screenplay by scripting Ann Hui’s The Story Of Woo Viet.
Cheung made his directorial debut with Monkey Business in 1982. On his return from a film course at prestigious Columbia University in New York, Cheung directed and scripted the hit comedy Let’s Make Laugh in 1983 for the Shaw Brothers Studio.
In 1984, Cheung and Chan Friend formed a new film company and produced several niche hits. After that, Cheung has created the famous Her Fatal Way series among other successes and is now aiming at the international movie audiences.
