Biography |

Wang Hsia's interest in acting and drama was nutured during his schooling of Taiwan. After graduation, he started his career acting in Tawanese-dialect movies.
In 1959 he made a switch to making Mandarin language movies with a major role in "The Golden Era" at the recommendation of director Poon Lui.
Wang moved to Hong Kong in 1965 to sign up with Shaw Brothers which had by then become the largest producer of Chinese language films in the region. At Shaw's Wang starred in about tens of movies.
Wang was a versatile actor who could tackle any role with aplomb. In 1977, Wang moved back to Taiwan where he worked on movies and several TV programs before retiring recently. His son, Dave Wang Chieh, is also an actor and a singer. (IVL)
