HKCinemagic : You worked very closely with Ng See Yuen. How would you describe your relationship with him?
Bruce Leung : It's him who saw me fight in the streets and made me become an actor.

HKCinemagic : Ok, but how would you describe your relationship with him?
Bruce Leung : (smile) Why do you insist asking this question? Is there anything special you would like to know?

HKCinemagic : It's just that you have collaborated many times together; I guess you would have built a special relationship.
Bruce Leung : Normally, you would think we had a normal actor/director relationship but in fact, I think we worked so much together because Ng See Yuen wanted to chase my wife. It was an opened secret in the business at that time.
HKCinemagic : Ng See Yuen tried to sell you as a kind of new Bruce Lee. Did you agree with this orientation of your career?
Bruce Leung : I didn't like that. But it was very successful commercially during that time. Still, I didn't like to be someone else . It's w hen he was selling movies with me, he changed my English name to Bruce, before it was always David.

HKCinemagic : Was it the same about your Chinese name, Siu Lung [in cantonese, Bruce Lee is called Lee Siu Lung]?
Bruce Leung : I knew Bruce Lee for a long time, even before he came back to Hong Kong but my name Siu Lung comes from the name of my Sifu. We were all Leung Siu something, so I had to follow the tradition.

HKCinemagic : Amongst the works for Ng See Yuen, somewhere in Italy. Was it difficult to shoot there?
Bruce Leung : It was quite fun. There were 4 or 5 different nationalities actors on the set, as we couldn't communicate we had to rely on body language.

HKCinemagic : Was it a problem for the fight scene?
Bruce Leung : Because of that, all the fights were real. The people from there with who I was working with were really huge and they looked down upon me because I was smaller. So I really went for it during the fights. It happened both before and behind the cameras. There was a time in Venice, in a disco; there was an English guy who was playing sword. And he told me “You're so small, those Chinese, can you really fight?” So I asked him “You want to try me?” Then, the boss of the disco turned on all the lights and we fought on the dancing floor, it left me this (showing some scar on his body).

HKCinemagic : And, of course, you won?
Bruce Leung : No need to ask (laughs).
HKCinemagic : During this period one of your best films was Call Me Dragon. How was the collaboration with Yasuaki Kurata?
Bruce Leung : First of all he was a very nice guy. Second of all, he practised Japanese Hapkido, in fact he did not use kicks at all, I taught him all his kicks that's why we are good friends.

HKCinemagic : And how was the shooting, especially the fight scenes?
Bruce Leung : The director didn't know Kung Fu at all so he just squeezed what I had, like a sponge. He just asked for the best things out of us and we did it for him.
