True to its title, "Puppy Love" abounds with adolescent playfulness and innocence lost, reflecting the intended nature of Donnie and Marie Osmond's hit song, "Puppy Love". It's about two naughty rivals growing up together who next discover boys, specifically Paul and Michael. The four begin to intertwine with love and emotion, not really knowing who's with whom or where each is heading. The fireworks begin when adolescent jealousies lead to stupidity where people start to get hurt.
