David Chiang teams up with Chang Cheh's acclaimed screenwriter Ni Kuang (written over 300 screenplays) to pen The Condemned. It's a story about misplaced virtue, greed and even when the good guys win, they still lose; a reflection of China's dynastic cycle. Chiang is imprisoned for stealing and kept in the jail where he meets fellow inmate, swordsman Feng, who is unjustly imprisoned for a robbery he didn't commit. It's an existential balance that can only lead to trouble to all the bad guys as they break out and dispense their own kind of justice; steel slashing bewitchment at the hands of Liu Chia-liang's choreography partner, Tang Chia who gives the fight scenes memorable brutality.
