Zhang Meili, a simple woman from the western China countryside lost her husband to the crime he committed and her children to illness. She asked village chief to dedicate her whole life to children in the village. When they welcomed the young and beautiful volunteer teacher Xia Yu from the big city of Beijing, both Xia Yu and Zhang Meili’s perspectives in life changed dramatically. They joined hands to change the young lives in the village.
